At Harvey McLean Creators of Custom Joinery we pride ourselves in offering world class standards in joinery work - available to the West of Scotland.

That's why all of our management team are themselves highly talented time-served joiners who have progressed to managerial positions. Of course, it’s important to know that we have the best technical knowledge in the business, but also that we have the best practical experience and skills to deliver.

Harvey McLean - Managing Director

The son of an architect, Harvey is a time served joiner of considerable repute. He completed his apprenticeship with his grandfathers firm Donald C.McLean Builders in Ayr and after attaining his city and guilds accreditation he went on to work with a number of national housebuilders.

With his passion for exceptional quality standards, Harvey decided to set up on his own in 1990, establishing Harvey McLean Builders which specialised in home extensions and one off new build houses.

Expanding through the 1990’s Harvey acquired a small joinery manufacturing firm in 1997 having initially spotting the demand for bespoke joinery items such as staircase, door screens and sash & case windows.

Harvey’s progressive move into the furniture industry came in 2002 when the company was awarded the prestigious joinery contract for the renovation of Ladykirk House, the home of the renowned Entrepreneur and Philanthropist - Sir Tom Hunter.

The business continued to grow from strength to strength culminating in 2003 with a move to 12000Sq./Ft modern facility at Heathfield, Ayr. Here, Harvey set up the modern workshop, showroom and administration centre which today, is the envy of others in the market. From this new base, Harvey continues to develop the Harvey McLean brand, now firmly recognised throughout the country.

Harvey is a highly focussed individual whose dedication to delivering unrivalled quality and exceptional service standards sets him head and shoulders above others in the industry. Outside of his business interests Harvey enjoys golf - sometimes hitting a 9 iron 180yards (that’s Ayrshire Links Golf for you) and skiing (although he’s not the Frans Klamer he used to be.)

Brian Addie - Designer

Brian served his time as a cabinetmaker with Beithcraft Furniture and has over thirty years in the cabinetmaking, joinery and shopfitting trades. He has worked for some of Scotland’s best known companies such as Morris Furniture, Havelock Europa and Andrew Thomsons of Glasgow.

Brian joined Harvey McLean’s from Thomas Johnstone Shopfitters whom he worked with for over 7 years in their drawing office.

He has worked with some of the countries top designers and architects being involved in many prestigious projects such as Glasgow School of Art, Gleneagles, Malmaison Hotels, and the multi award winning boutique hotel Tiger Lilly.

Brian says:  “I'm at my happiest when I'm involved in the development process of bespoke items, particularly furniture or something unusual, although you can’t beat the buzz of a major refit. It is immensely satisfying when your idea's have contributed to producing something truly unique and the customer is really, really happy!
